Anything Goes

I wanted to share with you a challenge Threadbenders had last year.  It was called Anything Goes and it truly was an anything goes challenge.  Starting with a bag of scraps or larger pieces of fabric you will pick a bag and start a quilt with that fabric.  Every month we bring the bag back with the project that we started.  It would get put into the middle of the room and we would pick another bag.  It was one of the most fun challenges I have ever done.
But, what happens at the end you ask?  The original person gets their quilt back and needs to finish it.  Because hopefully we will be displaying these challenge quilts at a quilt show or shop.  I was so distraught.  My quilt came back with beautiful work on it.  But, it just wasn't my style.  So I put it aside and really didn't think much of it.. I figured why would I finish it I probably won't hang it anywhere.  Well, we had a place to hang them.  Sew Much More.  Unfortunately I didn't have the time to get mine finished.  But, I brought it out and put it on my design wall and looked at it often.
Finally a thought came to my mind.  It's a anything goes challenge so I could still change it if I wanted to.  So I did.  I'm a Laurel Burch lover!!  Thats an understatement!!  So I decided to cut out the inside and put a part of a Laurel Burch panel of some horses in the middle.  Then I liked it.  I got it on the long arm and whipped up some quilting and finished it.  I'm still thinking of adding some bling.
It just goes to show that you might not like how something turned out.  So change it!!  This was fun and a learning experience for me.
You can see all of the quilts here...
