Art on the Run Newsletter for Fall

It’s Fall Y’all…
Hello from Art On The Run.  So many new things are going on with Bigfork Bay Cotton Co.  They have come out with Lazer Cut pattern/kits. Not all patterns are in Lazer.  You can check the website for more information.
They are retiring some of the pattern fabric kits.  They are unable to get the fabrics from the vendor anymore.  They will still be carrying all the patterns.
They have added a “wish list” on their website along with a “forum, discussion area”.
Please visit the website at http://www.bigforkbaycottonco.com
I don’t have any vending gigs coming up but I am doing some lectures and workshops at some guilds.
I am planning on opening an Etsy shop if all goes well.  In the meantime if you would like a pattern just email me and I can send it out for a nominal shipping fee.  If I don’t have it BFBCC will drop ship it for me right to you.
If you are in a guild I would love to come and lecture at your guild.   I have 2 different lectures right now. One is a Bigfork Bay Cotton Co. and the other is on Fun With Fusing.  Both have different trunk shows.  The fusing lecture I give you a trip through my beginning of quilting to the present.  I also talk a bit about challenges.
I recently have come out with a self published pattern.  It is a cat called Daisy.  I am currently making a dog for all those dog lovers.  I am teaching those patterns to a couple guilds next year in a workshop format.  I usually lecture before and then spend 3 hours or so in the workshop.
I am so lucky to be able to do what I love.
I have a few gals interested in learning how to make landscape quilts.  Please if you might be interested let me know.. I need 4 gals to make it go.  I will be setting up a date in early December on a Sat.
I am also planning some open sew sessions on Sat. November 10, or 17 and Sat. December 8 or 16.  I have to check with the church to see if these dates will work for them.  The open sews are held at Zion Lutheran Church and school on Lisbon and Brookfield Rd.  I charge $8 for the day.  It's a lot of fun just hanging with quilters and getting some of our Christmas projects done..
I have a separate group that I send emails regarding open sews.  So if you are interested please reply to this email Open Sew.  And I will add your name to the list.
Well, that is it for now.. Happy Halloween!!  I'll be heading to Houston on Oct. 31st.. I'm so excited.  Keep on Quilting..!!
Blessings.. Laura

Busy Time of Year

The leaves are turning colors and the fall has quickly approached us.  Last weekend I lectured at Ben Franklin and I was the featured quilter.  I had over 20 quilts hanging in the shop.  It was very cool.

Next Tuesday I will be speaking to Tosa Quilters.  Heading up to Montello on Weds. and then Green Lake on Thursday for a 4 day quilting retreat.  I might stop up north for a few days after that and then home for work on Thursday.  I will be working Thurs.,  Fri.,  Sat., and Sunday and then on Monday I have a lecture in Racine at the Lighthouse quilters guild.  Hoping to start packing for Houston before the lecture.  I will then be leaving on Oct. 31 to head to Houston for the International Quilt Festival for 5 days.  After I get back from that I will have a chance to breath.. I love being busy.. Hope to see some of you in Houston!!

A little tidbit....

I wanted to give you a little tidbit of information that I like to share in my lectures and classes.  Since I work with fusibles most of the time.   I always cover my ironing surface with freezer paper.  I can get it gunked up and just rip it off and add a new piece.  I can't even tell you the last time I saw the fabric top of my ironing board.  I use it on my bigboard and my little traveling ironing surfaces.  That's my tidbit for today.
